The Doom Dweller Returns

From the shadows of the original one-knob Doom Dweller rises a newly expanded force of ambience and decay. What began as a simple one-knob reverb built for heavy music has evolved into a fully controllable, multi-mode weapon designed to swallow riffs, stretch time, and carve massive space without sacrificing your core tone.

Inspired by the original Doom Dweller Reverb, this updated design expands the control set and introduces three distinct reverb modes: Cavern, Modulated, and Shimmer. These three modes allow you to dial in everything from subtle atmosphere to crushing cavernous decay, pulsing movement, and near-infinite ambience. Whether you’re building slow doom riffs, towering drones, or massive bass passages, the Doom Dweller is built to live in the low end and thrive in the shadows.

At the heart of the Doom Dweller is an analog dry signal path paired with a digital reverb engine, preserving the clarity and punch of your original signal while the reverb blooms around it. The Mix control sweeps from 100% dry to 100% wet, making this pedal equally at home in traditional rigs, parallel signal paths, and fully ambient setups for guitar or bass.

Reverb Modes

Cavern: A long, cavernous reverb built to create immense physical space around your playing. The Shift control introduces a sub-octave down into the reverb tail, adding depth and weight without overwhelming your dry signal. A Big Muff–style tone stack allows you to sweep between low-pass and high-pass filtering, letting you sculpt the reverb from warm and enveloping to open and cutting.

Modulated: A shorter, spring-inspired reverb with a classic feel and modern control. The Shift control introduces modulation into the decay, adding movement ranging from subtle shimmer to seasick warble. The Tone control functions as a low-pass filter to keep the reverb smooth, dark, and musical. This mode is directly based on the original Doom Dweller.

Shimmer: An expansive ambient reverb that feeds an octave-up feedback loop into the decay. As the Shift control is increased, the reverb grows into massive, near-infinite sustain, perfect for drones, intros, outros, and towering soundscapes. The Tone control reins in high end to prevent harshness while maintaining clarity.

Controls

REVERB: Command the length and decay of the reverb — from tight ambient space to massive, blooming caverns that stretch into infinity

TONE: Control the filtering and frequency response of the reverb, with behavior that changes depending on the selected mode

MIX: Control the balance between dry and wet signal — ranging from 100% dry to 100% wet for subtle ambience or total immersion

SHIFT: Unlock the Doom Dweller’s hidden depths — adding sub-octave weight, modulation, or octave-up shimmer depending on the active reverb mode
